The objectives of Level 6 are to refine strokes so students swim them with ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances. Ability to swim continuously using all strokes and turns. Level 6 focuses on becoming a fitness swimmer. An emphasis is placed on technique and distance swimming. Students will be able to learn a variety of swim drills that will improve their technique.
In order to pass Level 6, children must be able to complete the following skills:
- Front Crawl Open Turn
- Backstroke Open Turn
- Sidestroke Turn
- Front Flip Turn
- Backstroke Flip Turn
- Butterfly Turn & Breastroke Turn
- Front Crawl - 100 yds & Back Crawl - 100 yds
- Elementary Backstroke - 50 yds
- Breakstroke - 50 yds & Sidestroke - 50 yds
- Butterfly - 50yds
- Demonstrate how to use the following equipment: pull buoy, fins, pace clock, paddles
- Calculate target heart rate
- Apply the principles of water exercise
