At Girls on the Run Silicon Valley, teaching essential life skills is the cornerstone of our research-based programs. Trained volunteer coaches facilitate lessons that blend physical activity with life skill development, including managing emotions, fostering friendships, and expressing empathy.
Girls on the Run® is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization designed to enhance participants' social, emotional and physical skills to successfully navigate life experiences. Our fun, interactive lessons meet the unique needs of participants of all abilities and backgrounds.
Mission
We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.
Vision
We envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.
Some materials are available in Spanish, including the online registration system.
Our coaches have received some training on how to support students with special needs and different abilities. The team who wrote the curriculum worked with the National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability, to create adaptations so girls of all abilities are able to participate in and enjoy Girls on the Run programs.
