SafeSitters is a training program for students who are interested in becoming childcare providers. This course provides hands-on training in preventing and responding to emergencies, with an emphasis on first aid skills. This course covers infant care, planning age-appropriate activities as well as how to manage discipline issues. Students are also taught how to recognize child abuse and handle inappropriate adult behavior. This program is designed for mature-minded students who are serious about developing his or her childcare skills and abilities. Students must be 13-16 years old to take this course and will receive a certification card upon completion of this course. Students need to bring a sack lunch to class.
