Join SJMA for a summer art camp that pairs creative exploration of art materials and processes led by our experienced gallery and studio art educators with enhanced creative growth opportunities, made possible by our online format.
Our campers will get a rare glimpse into working artist’s studio’s for live demo’s, tutorials and tours and Q&A’s, as artists Imin Yeh, Yojiro Imaska, Vanessa Marsh, Tony May, and Leslie Shows will all be acting as special ‘guest artists’ during each week of camp! Several of our guest artists will be featured in our upcoming SJMA exhibition, South East North West: New Works from the Collection.
To further enhance our online platform and address the need for minimizing summer learning losses, we are incorporating science curriculum into our program! Greg Brown, a Stanford-trained design thinker and STEM consultant, will engage campers in an interpretive art+science lesson each week.
Our Online Summer Art Camp culminates with a 3D virtual exhibition of campers artwork, which kids, parents and families will be able to view in real-time, installed in the simulated galleries of San José Museum of Art.
Each week-long camp is offered for ages 6–9 and 10–14, Mon–Fri, 9–12pm. (no camp the week of June 28 due to Independence Day).
