About

San Diego Craft Collective was launched in 2018 after a few woodworking colleagues recognized a void in San Diego’s creative community. They envisioned an educational venue where woodworking and other skilled crafts would be taught. It would be a community resource offering expert instruction and access to a high-quality woodshop — for people who would otherwise not have the means to purchase tools or attend classes at a well-equipped facility.

Hands At Work … Minds At Play

Inspired by the Waldorf education model and the Sloyd Method, the founders created a safe and welcoming place where adults and children get back to basics and learn how to make arts and crafts with their own hands — a respite from society’s plastic, mass-produced, marketing-driven toys and objects. Here, families would enjoy healthy opportunities to enjoy quality time together.

Our Mission

To play a vital role as an inclusive resource for the community by teaching craft and woodworking classes as a vehicle for self expression and personal growth. As an educational 501c3 nonprofit, we offer activities, workshops, scholarships, and fellowships centered around craft and creativity for individuals of all ages and backgrounds in a family friendly, eco-conscious environment.

Skills + Craft = Confidence Our workshops and woodworking courses are taught by highly skilled, professional artists and craftspeople. Whether it’s for you, your child, a sibling, parent, or children with disabilities; come learn skills with your hands and build confidence through our programming and mentorship. We firmly believe that humans are more happy when they create things with their own hands. Come experience fun and fulfillment through our guidance.

San Diego Craft Collective Scholarships are offered to families and students who do not have the financial means to pay for our classes. Ten percent of our youth enrollment is reserved for scholarship applicants.
