The Teen Ceramics Apprentice program offers students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the craft of ceramics while gaining hands-on experience in a professional studio environment. In exchange for helping with the daily operations of the ceramics classroom, students will have access to the tools, materials, and space they need to create their own artwork and develop their portfolio.
As a participant in this program, students will take on responsibilities such as, but not limited to: assisting with studio organization, cleaning, prepping and reclaiming clay, loading and unloading kilns, and helping with studio maintenance. These tasks are essential to keeping a ceramics studio running smoothly and provide students with a behind the scenes look at how a professional studio operates.
This program is intended for students at least 15 years of age with two years of previous Art Center experience, or less Art Center experience plus equivalent experience in school, who are looking to learn more about the field and develop their own body of work. Attendance for a training session is required. Participation in this program will overlap with ceramics summer camps of all ages. Hours worked can be credited towards service hour goals. Art Center approval required for sign-up.
Apprentices must sign up for two week-long sessions and volunteer for a minimum of five hours each week. Please choose your preferred dates during registration.
