Beginner Portrait Drawing with Asami Akinaga
Learn the fundamentals of portrait drawing in this beginner class online via Zoom! Instructor will discuss proportions of the face, drawing realistic facial features, and drawing from different views. Classes will start with lots of demos and step by step guidance, as well as short exercises and emailed guides. We will work from photographic reference.
What you need:
- Free basic Zoom account.
- Pencils at least an HB, 2B, 4B, 6B.
- Good eraser -- plastic ones like Staedtler brand, and optional smaller fine point ones.
- Good paper -- nice thick drawing paper like Strathmore brand.
- Sketching/note taking paper -- regular printer paper or any scrap paper you have lying around.
optional supplies
I will do one final demo in charcoal, but if you don’t have any it is not necessary to purchase:
- Vine charcoal in soft at least one stick
- Charcoal pencil in 6B.
- Compressed charcoal (rectangular stick of hard charcoal).
- Kneadable eraser.
