The purpose of the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course is to train instructor candidates to teach courses and presentations in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program including Parent and Child Aquatics, Preschool Aquatics, Learn-to-Swim, Adult Swim, Private Lessons, and Water Safety Presentations.
In addition to the course fee, you will need to pay an additional $35 course registration fee with the American Red Cross. An email will be sent out 1 week prior to the start of class with the registration deeplink and additional details.
This is a blended learning course. You are required to complete the Orientation to the Swimming and Water Safety Program (~1 hour), the online eLearning content (~7 hours), as well as, attend all on-site sessions.
Prerequisites:
Be at least 16 years old on or before the last day of the course
Demonstrate the ability to perform the following swimming skills:
a. Swim the following strokes consistent with the Stroke Performance Charts, Level 4:
b. Maintain position on back for 1 minute in deep water (floating or sculling)
c. Tread water for 1 minute
