A week-long summer program for students to develop friendships and musicianship. All students participate in Allegro Ensemble; in addition, students are matched in trios, quartets, or quintets according to age and experience level, and work with a coach. All groups prepare music for the concert at the end of the week.
Requirements
Applying students should be at Suzuki Book 2 or have completed any First Band Book (or equivalent level), or higher.
Prerequisites include:
- Preferably at least a year of private lessons and currently taking
lessons
- Proficiency in keys up to 2 sharps and flats
- Strings: Familiarity through 3rd position for violin and viola, 4th
for cello
- Vibrato highly recommended
- Woodwinds: Ability to play the full range of the instrument
(excluding the extended high range)
- Ability to play various articulations (e.g. legato, staccato)
- Accurate rhythm and intonation
- Note and rhythm reading skills are essential
All students participate in Allegro Ensemble as well as in chamber music groups.
Daily Schedule
For the summer session it is required for all students to participate in the chamber orchestra.
