About

Castilleja girls take risks. They join with their peers in tackling our challenging curriculum with boundless enthusiasm and curiosity. Students form strong bonds and together they nurture, support, and mentor each other to expand individual aspirations. Castilleja girls have the freedom and support to ask questions with abandon. They can explore fearlessly, confident in the guidance from our community and the strength of their connection to peers.

At Castilleja—and in the company of girls—every opportunity is hers to seize.

Our Mission is Clear

Castilleja School educates motivated young women to become confident thinkers and compassionate leaders with a sense of purpose to effect change in the world.

Our Values are Strong

Our work is guided by the principles we believe essential to effective participation in a global community.

The 5Cs

The pursuit of Castilleja’s mission is supported by a commitment to our core values, the 5Cs:

Courage, Conscience, Courtesy, Charity, and Character

The 5Cs guide students towards ethical Character development. Courage is fostered and everyone is treated with Courtesy. Conscience propels us to do the right thing and Charity means making sacrifices to ensure that everyone shares the same rights and privileges. Each and every student, through her Castilleja education, is poised to live her life according to the 5Cs.

Diversity & Inclusion

Each member of the Castilleja community is responsible for fostering an equitable, respectful, and just community.

Together, we commit to learning from diverse voices and experiences, and we aspire to engage our differences with courage, honesty, intellectual curiosity and respect. We believe this commitment to diversity and inclusion is essential to developing compassionate leaders.

Gender Statement

Castilleja is a school for girls in grades 6-12. The pursuit of the motto “Women Learning, Women Leading” has led Castilleja to infuse its curriculum with a scaffold of relevant, hands-on, and real-world educational experiences, in order to educate young women to become the innovators and change agents who will tackle the complex challenges of tomorrow. The design of programs at the school is based upon research that addresses the educational needs of girls. These programs are therefore described using gendered language.

Members of the school community are expected to make every effort to honor the name and pronoun preference of each student and may choose to use non-gendered language when speaking to groups of students. Every student has the right to be addressed by a name and pronouns that correspond to the student’s gender identity. Regardless of whether a transgender or gender nonconforming student has legally changed their name or gender, Castilleja will allow such students to use a chosen name and gender pronouns that reflect their identity.

Tuition assistance is offered to families who demonstrate financial need. Apply online.
