At camp we explore nature in the wonderful parks, beaches and open spaces in our area. We have a variety of fun places to explore and play at, from Purisima creek, Stulsaft Park, Huddard Park, Portola Redwood State Park, Harley Goat Farm and the beaches and tide pools along the coast from Bean Hollow to Mavericks (dog beach). The children always play in or near water but DO NOT go into the ocean waves. We sometimes go to local farms to see horses. We might find frogs, newts or salamanders in the creeks or kiss a banana slug in the redwoods.
Be sure to bring: Children will need lunch, water bottle, change of clothes and booster seat if needed. Up to 8 years old and 80 pounds need a booster or car seat. Children will need to bring their own snacks along with their lunch and water bottle. We will have extra water, snacks and masks along if needed.
Regarding COVID Precautions:
We will have 12 children per group or less in the van and at this point masks are optional. Camp leaders will wear a mask while in the van. When the children are outside playing we recommend that they can take their mask off if their parents are OK with this.
ELL
We welcome children who are non-English speakers and have experience supporting campers from various linguistic backgrounds. Our play-based camp fosters connections and collaboration, allowing children to engage and play together regardless of language differences. When needed, we use tools like translation apps or creative communication methods to ensure all campers feel included.
Special Needs
Our camp welcomes children with ADHD or mild Autism and provides a supportive environment where they can thrive. For children who require additional support, such as those with higher levels of Autism, families are welcome to provide an aid or accompany their child to ensure a positive experience.
