Sign up for one week or multiple weeks! Top Flight basketball camps are specifically tailored to players who are looking to develop their basketball game. You will be coached on technique, conditioning and overall fundamentals of the game by the professionally skilled staff from Top Flight. The staff will guide you through the basics of basketball including dribbling, shooting, and passing, along with teamwork and sportsmanship. We’ll also participate each day in Camp Shalom’s morning song circle, and we’ll also get to go swimming every afternoon.
This camp is the ultimate introduction to a lifelong love of fitness and active lifestyle habits. You’ll learn and practice functional fitness exercises, weight lifting, mobility training, and a cross-section of all types of strength and cardiovascular training including running, swimming, and body weight training, and appropriate nutritional fuel for activities. During this camp you’ll also complete the JCC Youth Fitness program, which teaches fitness center equipment use, etiquette, and safety. We’ll also participate each day in Camp Shalom’s morning song circle, and we’ll also get to go swimming every day. Workout gloves are highly recommended for this camp, to prevent blisters.
Note: If your family has a Full Center Membership at the JCC, and if you’re at least 10 years old, upon successfully completing this program you’ll receive a certificate allowing you to exercise (accompanied by a parent or guardian) in the JCC Fitness Center.
Fencing for beginners! Learn proper fencing form and technique, footwork, bladework, distance control, introduction to fencing rules, safety rules, fencing etiquette and sportsmanship. Taught by coaches from the Academy of Fencing Masters. Wear athletic clothing and footwear. We will provide the fencing equipment.
For fencing campers in grades 1-4, we provide a special program that is half-day fencing, half-day traditional camp. Campers get all the fun and excitement of the fencing program in the morning and follow it up in the afternoon with traditional camp activities such as swimming, art, and science.
For fencing campers in grades 5-8, we offer a full-day fencing experience so you can perfect your martial arts skills. We’ll also participate each day in Camp Shalom’s morning song circle, and we’ll also get to go swimming every afternoon.
Entering Grades 2-8
Week 2: 6/17 -6/21
Get fit and build confidence by learning Krav Maga, the Israeli style of physical training and self-defense. The program will focus on fitness, discipline, and anti-bullying through circuit-training style workouts, obstacle courses, problem solving, and critical thinking. With instructors from the Academy of Self-Defense.
Campers spend two weeks learning a wide variety of martial arts techniques focusing mainly on Shotokan Karate. Participants will focus on fundamental skills, character development, discipline, and teamwork. Campers will work together to create a demonstration of their skills to perform on the last day of camp (7/5).
For martial arts campers in grades K-2, we provide a special program that is half-day martial arts, half-day traditional camp. Campers get all the fun and excitement of the martial arts program in the morning and follow it up in the afternoon with traditional camp activities such as swimming, art, and science. Campers in grades K-2 are included, along with campers in grades 3-6, in the end-of-session martial arts demonstration.
For martial arts campers in grades 3-6, we offer a full-day martial arts experience so you can perfect your martial arts skills. We’ll also participate each day in Camp Shalom’s morning song circle, and we’ll also get to go swimming every afternoon.
Entering Grades 3-6
Week 3: 6/24-6/28
Back by popular demand is Ninja Warrior camp! Campers will compete in all kinds of fun, physical challenges. There will be non-stop action in this camp – from obstacle course and climbing challenges to progressive relays and team-based competitions. Campers will be led through the rigors of Parkour by our certified personal trainers, who have experience with this type of fitness. Workout gloves are highly recommended for this camp to prevent blisters. We’ll also participate each day in Camp Shalom’s morning song circle, and we’ll also get to go swimming every afternoon.
Sign up for one week or multiple weeks! Come out and kick-it with Liverpool Football Club, as we enjoy the most popular sport on earth, Soccer! Professionally trained coaches will ensure that players learn and improve on techniques and tactics. This program is great both for beginners and for experienced players looking to improve their skills. Campers will be placed into groups based on skill, not age, and paired with a coach best suited to work with that skill level. Off the field, campers will participate in Camp Shalom’s morning song circle, daily swimming, and other fun.
Please note: Soccer campers will participate in soccer activities in the morning, and then filter into traditional day camp in the afternoon.
Sign up for one week or multiple weeks! Learn tennis fundamentals and improve your game through footwork drills, games, strategy, and match play while having fun on the courts. Off the courts, campers will participate in Camp Shalom’s morning song circle, daily swimming, and other fun. Campers are divided up by skill level and paired with the instructor who is best suited for their level. Players must bring their own racquets.
Please note: Tennis campers will participate in tennis activities in the morning, and then filter into traditional day camp in the afternoon.
Learn and improve your skills in one of the fastest growing and fun sports on the planet: Ultimate (aka Ultimate Frisbee). Ultimate is an exciting, non-contact team sport that relies on self-officiation (no referees) even at the highest levels of play. Not only will you get great exercise and have fun playing ultimate and other camp games, you will learn about teamwork and sportsmanship too. Taught by instructors from Ultimate Frisbee with Bay Area Disc’s Ultimate Summer Camps. We’ll also participate each day in Camp Shalom’s morning song circle, and we’ll also get to go swimming every afternoon.
