In September 2024, Icelandic-Danish artist Olafur Eliasson (b. 1967, Copenhagen; lives and works in Berlin) presents a new site-specific installation made for The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. In line with Eliasson’s career-long exploration of light and color, geometry, and ecological awareness, the installation will playfully engage with material and immaterial qualities of the building. A series of large scale optical devices designed specifically for the Geffen will reflect on the architecture of the Geffen, as well as the atmosphere of Los Angeles.

MOCA provides English-Spanish bilingual tours through its school program, Contemporary Art Start, and bilingual instruction at Sunday Studio, MOCA's free, quarterly art events for audiences of all ages.

At the Museum of Contemporary Art, we are dedicated to making art accessible to all in an inclusive and safe environment. To ensure a positive and memorable experience, we ask staff and visitors to be considerate of others while sharing this space. If you need assistance, notice anything unusual, or need to borrow a pencil, please ask a Gallery Attendant (MOCA staff wearing all black) for help.

  • ADA service animals are welcome in our galleries. Please note that pets and emotional support animals are not permitted.
  • Wheelchairs are available at the reception or lobby desks. Just check in with a MOCA Gallery Attendant when you arrive to MOCA.
  • We are happy to schedule American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters for special tours, lectures, and other talk-focused public programs with two weeks’ notice. Request an interpreter by emailing tickets@moca.org.
  • Assisted Listening Devices for programs and tours are available by request. Please email tickets@moca.org or ask a staff member.
  • Designed especially for families with children but useful to all, our Know-Before-You-Go Guide to MOCA Grand Avenue breaks down everything you can expect when you arrive for your visit.
  • Explore MOCA’s exhibitions and programs with our digital guide on Bloomberg Connects, the free arts and culture app. Our digital guide takes you behind the scenes at MOCA with exclusive multimedia perspectives from artists, curators, and more. Use the app to plan your visit and or delve deeper into your favorite works anywhere, anytime!

Contemporary Art Start (CAS), MOCA's flagship school program, provides a free bus for 1 of your 2 museum visits, and the program costs just $25 per teacher for a year of professional development, multiple tours, classroom curriculum, and family benefits.
