Step into another world for a day with this wilderness investigation and science exploration. Students will practice being scientists as they learn to answer their own questions about the natural world through observation and simple investigations. Exploring the creek and trails will give students the chance to become immersed in NGSS Life Science 1 and 2 (LS1 and LS2-1) They will compare and contrast plant and animal structures and life cycles including the internal and external structures that function to support survival and growth. They will look for evidence of movement of matter between plants and decomposers while discovering the natural phenomena that allow plants and animals to grow. All of this and the opportunity to feel the joy and wonder of being in nature!
Bringing students to this wilderness program will give them hands-on experiences that you can draw on while teaching back in the classroom. This immersion experience will spark curiosity and help create a deep appreciation for our natural environment.
