Preschool Classes
Parents may choose a 2-, 3-, or 5-day program. Preschool classes are available 8:15-11:15 or 8:15-2:15 for children who are at least 2½ years of age by July 31 and are fully potty trained. SCA preschool classes serve as a fun and age-appropriate introduction to school for our youngest students. The program involves hands-on activities, music, games, and more that are designed to teach new skills, enhance creativity, and instill a love of learning.
Focus is on basic colors, shapes, uppercase letters, and numbers 1-10. Also covered are opposites, farm animals, all about me, and community helpers. Our goal is to provide a “taste of school” while instilling Christian values and opportunities to interact with other children through group play in a structured environment. Occasional on-campus “field trips” enrich our learning time.
Pre-Kindergarten Classes
Parents may choose a 3- or 5-day program. Pre-Kindergarten classes are available 8:15-11:15 or 8:15-2:15 for children who will be at least 4 years of age by July 31. Our highly academic Pre-K program builds upon the skills learned in preschool and fully prepares students for Kindergarten. The program includes weekly chapel services, Bible stories, activities, and memory verses. Occasional field trips and classroom visitors serve to enhance the program.
Pre-Kindergarten classes focus on Kindergarten readiness skills such as uppercase and lowercase letters, reading short vowel words, counting and beginning math skills, communicating verbally, and strengthening fine motor skills. Christian character is taught in conjunction with biblical characters.
Five-day morning classes focus on all of the above plus library, P.E., music, and art.
Five-day, full-day classes include the full Pre-Kindergarten academic program with additional time spent on the core curriculum subjects. It includes more hands-on activities with an emphasis in science and math.
Hours are 8:15-11:15 a.m. for half-day students and 8:15 a.m -2:15 p.m. for full-day students.
