This course is designed to prepare students for competition speaking with a focus on public address, interpretation and limited preparation events. Students will develop fundamental skills for effective performance and presentation, including: 1.) Oratorical skills of research, composition, use of language, and persuasion; and 2.) Interpretive skills of literary analysis and characterization in performance. Participation in Friday and Saturday Speech and Debate competitions in October, November, and December count as the Semester Exam This course may be taken by sophomores, juniors and seniors that previously had Public Speaking (14) and have an interest in competitive speech, teacher approval required.
