Become a certified swim instructor! Learn organizational and
presentation skills that will help you in any career and make a
difference in people’s lives. Whether you want to splash around
with kids and teach them to swim, help children and adults
refine their strokes or teach diving safety techniques, you
can do it as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor.
This is a blended learning class (online and in-person). Online
assignments will be due on the first day of class. Bring a swim
suit, goggles and towel daily. You must pass a prerequisite
swim test on the first day to be officially accepted in the class.
To pass the prerequisite swim test, you must demonstrate
swimming ability at a Level 4 and swim 25 yards of front
crawl, 25 yards of back crawl, 25 yards breaststroke, 25 yards
elementary backstroke, 25 yards sidestroke, and 15 yards of
butterfly, maintain position on back for 1 minute in deep water
and tread water for 1 minute.
