About

Serving more than 1.5 million people a year, Arlington Public Library holds more than 550,000 items, from books, audiobooks, eBooks, and DVDs, to digital photo collections, genealogy resources, and grant funded kits for parents and teachers. In the always expanding digital realm, we provide people with powerful online resources. Online visitors can browse our collections, download eBooks, and view more than 100 digital tools.

Our vision: We strive to be our community's center for learning, experience, access, and discovery.

Our mission: We build a bridge from curiosity to opportunity for a vibrant Arlington.

To achieve our mission and fulfill our vision, the following ideals will direct us in our service to the community and interactions with each other. These values will help our organization align our intent with our actions.

  • We foster literacy for learning success.
  • We curate collections to increase knowledge and information.
  • We embrace experiences to encourage exploration and growth.
  • We are welcoming in our spaces and interactions.
  • We develop and nurture community relationships to extend our reach.
  • We engage with and support our library team.

We have people on staff who speak multiple languages and can assist in translating or speaking directly with students.

We provide services for children who are hard of hearing, hard of seeing, and have sensory processing issues.

The vast majority of our programs are free to the public or cost a nominal fee.
