Develop your mind and body at Science & Sports Camp (S2), a partnership between Lawrence Hall of Science and Cal Youth Camps.
Campers will spend the morning exploring the fascinating world of science at Lawrence Hall of Science, and the afternoon participating in fun and instructional sports activities at the Strawberry Canyon Rec Area. Supervised transportation is provided between each site.
Each week features a theme.

Weekly Themes
Week 1: Animal World
Campers explore living things and the natural world surrounding them. We focus on the scientific concepts that explain how plants’ and animals’ habitats provide everything they need to live, how colors help organisms, and the connections in nature between predators, prey, and the resources they both need to survive.
Week 2: Environmental Science
Campers learn how Earth’s surface changes over time and how these changes can be caused by natural forces or influenced by human behavior and how they can become caretakers with a garden of their own.
Week 3: Forensic Science
Campers investigate a crime scene mystery, find clues, talk to suspects, and investigate all the evidence to come up with their own explanations of what happened—just like real forensic scientists do.
Week 4: Green Energy
Campers explore different sources of energy and learn about alternative energy sources such as solar and wind power and how to use less fossil fuel.
Week 5: Phenomenal of Physics
Campers explore the physical world, focusing on the scientific concepts of air resistance- designing, building, and testing parachutes and air-powered rockets, magnetism- tricks and inventions, and surface tension with soap bubbles.
