To support the unique needs of infants and toddlers, teachers are responsive to infants’ and toddlers’ individual nonverbal cues and provide immediate physical comfort and needed care. Teacher’s interactions should be based on the child’s temperament and level of arousal. Caregiving routines are used as an opportunity to build a one-to-one relationship with each child. Social interactions with teachers should be ongoing and include verbal and nonverbal face-to-face communication.
