Shaping Our Stories

Shaping Our Stories at La Jolla Historical Society invites students to explore how objects, photographs, and even buildings communicate stories about our past, and to discover the value and importance of their own stories. We offer roundtrip MTS passes for one child and one caregiver

Participants will become history detectives, investigating materials from LJHS’s archive and historic structures in La Jolla to uncover how life has changed in the San Diego region throughout time. Through sketching activities and walking tours of the area, students will hone their observation skills, and by exploring LJHS’s oral history collection, they will see the power of preserving individual stories. The program will culminate in student designed exhibition featuring meaningful, personal artifacts and interviews students will conduct with a caregiver, friend, or neighbor.
