In the tradition of Holy Cross, the Ave Crux summer program is a mission-driven academic and social enrichment program for middle school students. Applicants are admitted during either their 5th, 6th, or 7th grade year using our need-based criteria. Accepted students gather annually at Saint Francis to further their academic studies and personal development. Ave Crux aims to reinforce academic confidence, self-esteem, and resilience through hands on instruction in English, Math, and Science as well as afternoon enrichment activities to prepare them for the rigorous academic and social environment of a college preparatory high school like Saint Francis High School.
The Ave Crux Curriculum will be developed in a way which differentiates between student learning ability. Small class sizes allow for more individualized instruction. Students enrolled in Ave Crux can expect homework, graded assignments, and weekly assessments. During the program, students are expected to demonstrate growth, resilience, and a desire to learn.
All Grades take instruction in: English Language Arts, Math, and Science. Curriculum is designed to assess current knowledge and introduces students to next level material.
