The mission of Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary is to provide:

• Engaging, hands-on environmental and natural science education for all ages.

• Biodiversity of native plants and animals.

Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary is a private nonprofit nature organization with a 100 acres Wildlife Sanctuary. About 4 miles of trails traverse diverse habitats, including a trail side bird blind on the prairie. The Nature Sanctuary offers a wide variety of public programs for all ages. It also offers private programs for birthday parties, scout groups, families, and school field trips. A Nature Center with classrooms, a gift shop, nature library, indoor bird viewing area, and exhibits (including live animals) is open Tuesday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.. Trails are open daily 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during Daylight Savings Time and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. the rest of the year.
