Mountain View Los Altos Soccer Club (MVLA)

About

Our Mission

At MVLA Soccer Club, our mission is to develop exceptional players and maximize their potential as athletes and leaders.

Our Impact

Over the years, MVLA has positively influenced the lives of thousands of young athletes, consistently nurturing top talent in the community. Notable alumni include Abby Dahlkemper, a 2019 FIFA World Cup Champion and US Women's National Team star; Teresa Noyola, a Herman Trophy Winner from Stanford; and our very own Executive Director, former MLS star Joe Cannon. Albertin Montoya, a former MVLA player, now leads as the Head Coach at Bay FC, the Bay Area's NWSL franchise, continuing his impact in soccer at the national level. Regardless of the paths they pursue, all players leave MVLA having experienced life-enriching growth through soccer.

Our Leadership

Joe Cannon, our Executive Director, began his journey at MVLA as a youth player and is a proud member of the San Jose Earthquakes Hall of Fame. His transformative experience at MVLA inspired him to return and lead the next generation. He is passionate about giving back and extending those transformative opportunities to others.

Michael Renwick, our Boys' Technical Director, brings a wealth of experience from his professional playing days with the Hibernian Soccer Club in the Scottish Premier League. Michael was the first Scottish Universities head coach to win the Home Nations Championship in over a decade and has over ten years of experience in academy director roles, shaping young talents into professional athletes.

Erin Montoya, our Girls' Technical Director and a native of the Bay Area, stands as our most successful head coach. Erin's coaching achievements include 2 ECNL National Championships, 9 State Cup Championships, 3 Surf Cup Championships, 2 Far West Regional Championships, a USYSA National Championship, and coaching three MVLA teams to #1 rankings in the U.S.

Our Community

MVLA is more than just a soccer club; it's a cornerstone of the community. We offer scholarships and outreach programs, supporting players of all backgrounds. With over 1,500 players and hundreds of volunteers, our community extends far beyond the field, encompassing families and fans united by a love for soccer and a commitment to our shared values.

We have bilingual staff and maintain a minimum of a 12:1 player: coach ratio in order to provide appropriate support for all players.

We have the ability to staff additional support for players with special needs as deemed appropriate.
