Camp Akita, a ministry of First Community, is a summer camp, group activity center, and cabin rental facility located 45 miles southeast of Columbus in the rolling hills of Hocking County, Ohio. The facility includes over 1,200 acres of land, 15 miles of marked hiking trails, a nature sanctuary, a basketball court, a ropes challenge course, and a 7-acre lake for fishing, swimming, and canoeing.
Each year, we give between $10,000 and $15,000 in scholarships to campers needing financial assistance and to resettled refugees. We strongly believe that all children can benefit from experiencing camp, and our goal is to ensure that a lack of money does not cause a camper to miss out on this experience.
