Mardi Gras, also known as Fat Tuesday, is a cultural phenomenon with deep historical roots. It intertwines the French tradition of a pre-Lenten celebration with the vibrant musical and artistic contributions of Louisiana's African American community. Observed on March 4, 2025, this vibrant tradition intersects with Black History Month, highlighting the significant contributions of African Americans.
Mardi Gras offers a glimpse into the rich tapestry of New Orleans' culture. Come celebrate with us by making your own Mardi Gras mask. As they say, "Laissez les bons temps rouler" – let the good times roll!
This craft will be held in the Maple room (near the Adult Reference desk). While supplies last.
This program is part of Santa Clara County Library District’s celebration of Black History Month.
