The City of Seattle's vision is that all residents, regardless of their proficiency in English, should have meaningful access to City programs, services, and activities.
Through its Language Access program, OIRA collaborates with City departments to ensure that English language learners are able to access the information and services they need and that departments are able to effectively serve them. The City has a goal of becoming a national leader in immigrant integration and a model for language access.
The Specialized Programs unit of Seattle Parks and Recreation offers year-round activities for people with disabilities. The purpose is to provide recreational opportunities for individuals who may choose to participate in activities specifically designed and conducted by trained staff to best meet their needs.
Thanks to the Seattle Park District, Seattle Parks and Recreation has limited financial aid funds available to individuals and families for our programs and activities. Scholarships eligibility is based on income and family size, and is available to anyone who qualifies, including seniors and people with disabilities.
Financial aid helps make our programs and activities more accessible to the community and can provide discounts for programs and activities at most Seattle Parks and Recreation facilities.
