Participants improve their skills and increase their endurance by swimming familiar strokes (front crawl, elementary backstroke) for greater distances. More emphasis is placed on stroke efficiency and technique, as well as endurance.
In order to pass Level 4, children must be able to complete the following skills:
- Headfirst dive from side in stride position.
- Swim under water.
- Feet first surface dive.
- Survival swimming.
- Front crawl open turn and backstroke open turn.
- Tread water using egg beater kick and flutter kick.
- Flutter kick on back.
- Dolphin kick.
- Front and back crawl.
- Elementary backstroke.
- Breaststroke.
- Sidestroke.
- Butterfly.
