Level I – Beginner (new style for the dancer)
Level II – Intermediate (solid training/consistency in the basics of the style & ready for intermediate skills)
Contemporary stems from modern, jazz and ballet dance techniques. This form often utilizes: modern dance’s emphasis on the torso and use of improvisation, jazz dance’s focus on grounded/rhythmic movements and ballet dance’s attention to controlled legwork and lines. The choreography can contain narrative or be abstract in nature, and will challenge dancers to move, think and explore outside of their comfort zone. Improvisation is used to help dancers explore their movement more deeply and personally.
