This 3-day workshop, based on the dictum of famous artist Georgia O’Keeffe to “fill a space in a beautiful way,” opens up the making of art with a view toward O’Keeffe’s perspective and practices. Get started making your own art with instructor Ana Kosta who worked for O’Keeffe in 1976 and went on to enjoy a long museum career and studio practice. Students are guided through step-by-step exercises: one that O’Keeffe assigned, others from the teacher who encouraged her to express herself—which ultimately led to her fame. This class focuses on color, composition, and personal expression. It is designed for people with little or no art training and also those looking for a fresh approach for their work. Participants will take home their own unique creations inspired by O’Keeffe’s approach to painting and her artistic philosophy, but reflecting their own aesthetic and spirit.
