During the fall semester, this year-long class will introduce harmonic techniques: triads, cadences, non-chord tones, voice leading and part writing, as well as melody writing and musical analysis. The spring semester will focus on 18th century four-part harmonic techniques: chord functions, voice leading, part writing, modulation, form and analysis. Prereq: Theory 8B or permission of Music Classes Coordinator. (Exam Equivalents: ABRSM Level 6, RCM Level 9)
