Leadership skills are one of the most important traits that students will need to learn in order to be successful within any industry or profession, yet many of these skills are abstract and can be difficult to teach. Education Unlimited takes the key elements of their immensely popular Leadership curriculum and brings it online as students think to the year ahead. Virtual Leadership Camp focuses on creating great leaders through three key areas of leadership development:
Knowing Yourself as a Leader:
- By understanding motives and personal values, students will be provided with a firm foundation to build the leadership skills that best suits their individual leadership style. Through personality and leadership self-assessment tests, students will benefit from guided self-evaluation to determine the management style that best fits their leadership goals. As part of the self-assessment, we will also consider how to best communicate with other types of leaders.
Communicating with Others:
- Once students understand their leadership style and
goals, they are then provided with the skills they will need to communicate that direction to others. Our communications studies will cover presentation skills, meeting management and effective writing for the workplace.
Each week of camp, students will:
- Give a persuasive or informative presentation
- Write proposals and communicate to others with clarity and professionalism
- Have plenty of practical hands-on experience
Learn by Doing:
- Weekly projects simulate entrepreneurial and community leadership from inception through planning to action. All projects start with a topic of interest to
each small group or individual student and a problem that needs to be solved. Each project includes budget and time management, delegation of responsibilities and
effective teamwork.
These projects may include:
- Filling a need at a school and implementing an event for a large student body
- Creating a club or local chapter of a nationwide or worldwide organization
- Arranging and completing a community service project plan with an action plan for implementation
