Hello all!
Allow us introduce to you to something.
girls getaway (n.) – occurring when a group of incredible, strong, passionate women take to the Trinity trails for 11-12 consecutive days. Unbreakable bonds are formed, confidence is grown, and an empowering experience is shared by all involved.
2015 Girls Getaway
2015 Girls Getaway – our most recent one till now!
You can imagine how excited we are to announce that Camp Unalayee is offering a Girls Getaway second session this summer!
Our Girls Getaway this summer will have an emphasis on hiking hard and improving/adding to our skills in the wilderness. You could think of this as a bit of a “Girls Get Hiking” sort of a trail tribe. Though we will hike hard, we will also have plenty of time to relax, swim, and enjoy the beautiful lakes and mountains around us. We want this hike to be for our campers – meaning we can spend time playing music, crafting, playing games, learning hard skills such as map reading, fire building, and plant and animal identification, or a combination of everything. We want to have fun! We will strive to tune in to our campers and meet their needs and desires.
Becca and Ursula are both life-long Camp Unalayee campers/counselors and over the years they have embarked on a number of Girls Getaway hikes and trail tribes together. They can’t wait for this latest adventure!
A little more about the leaders Rebecca Eastman & Ursula Harwood
Becca EastmanBecca has been attending Camp Unalayee her entire life and has worked as a counselor for the past 10 summers. Throughout her time at Unalayee she has led several trail programs (including previous Girls Getaways), worked as Program Director, and led the Counselor in Training (CIT) program. When she isn’t at Unalayee she works as a middle school science teacher with a focus on outdoor education and ecology. Becca loves spending time in nature, practicing hUrsula Harwooder wilderness skills, and exploring new and amazing alpine lakes.
Ursula has also attended Camp Unalayee her whole life, and this will be her second summer as a counselor. During the school year she studies Environmental Sciences at UC Berkeley with an emphasis on human-environmental interaction. When out on the trail, she loves to sing and play music, explore new places, get goofy, and share her love of the beautiful Trinities with her campers.
Enrollment Deadline: May 15th, 2018. Space is strictly limited to eight campers, so sign up early! (Girls Getaway must reach a 5 camper enrollment to run).
