Every year, the UR Media Career Pathways program recruits aspiring designers, filmmakers and animators to join an intensive Digital Media program to learn how to become a professional freelance artists and entrepreneurs.
Covering every aspect of production including: screenwriting, cinematography and editing, students are paired with industry professionals and provided scholarship opportunities to fund their own creative projects.
Students are provided stipends for each session, and provided lab time and office space to meet with clients, and develop their portfolios.
At the end of the program, students’ work is featured in our annual Black & Brown Unity Film Festival, and they are recommended for academic programs, entry-level jobs, or in-house internships to produce media for Bay Area companies and non-profits.
ELL
Our youth programs are conducted in English. We have some staff that speak Spanish, but we don't offer instruction in Spanish.
Special Needs
United Roots is a wheel-chair accessible facility. However, our youth programs do not have interpreters for deaf people or materials for blind people. United Roots does not have the ability to serve young people with severe mental or emotional needs.
Deals
All programs are free to young adults ages 13-24. Some programs have an application and interview process, with limited availability for enrollment.
