In this 12 hour summer camp, students will learn about and use tools that doctors use, understand how the heart, lungs and the organs of digestion work through discussion and role playing, and be able to identify the organs of the body as well as learning how to suture, tie surgical knots and role-play surgery. Students will learn how to treat minor injuries, make a first aid kit, be able to identify the different parts of the brain and what the parts control, make a model of the brain, understand why we burp and belch, identify the levels of the spine and what the spine does, understand what a prescription is and how they are dispensed, make a bone model, and complete a skeleton sticker set.
Students will go home with a real stethoscope, disposable lab coat, practice sutures, first aid kit, "mucus", worksheets, human body and skeleton sticker sets, brain, spine and bone models, brain hat, and a diploma.
