Hebrew learning begins as early as Kindergarten. Through conversation, song, and play, our Sunday morim (teachers) infuse Hebrew as a living language in the classroom. Tuesday afternoons are devoted to students in grades 3-7 for strengthening Hebrew language acquisition and comprehension. Students make solid gains in overall confidence and competence as they finesse their reading skills and come to master the challenges inherent in leading tefillah, and reading from the Torah. Talmidim preparing for b’nai mitzvah gain proficiency in trope (chanting), study the Nivi’im (prophets/haftarah) and work closely with the Minahelet (Director), exploring opportunities to deepen their personal practice and further their connections with Jewish life. We come together as a community for Mifgash, as we do on Sunday mornings. Students (and sometimes parents also!) vie for this opportunity to demonstrate their Hebrew leadership abilities. Once again, our yeladim (children) learn, each at their own pace.
