Rugby is a fast moving game. Pads and helmets slow down gameplay by encouraging the “Superman effect” that encourages players to take bigger chances and make bigger hits.
Instead, rugby players are trained in precision tackles which “wrap up” an opponent, rather than knock them to the ground.
We cater to all sizes and shapes. There are weight-restricted age groups for U-10, U-12 and U-14. Smaller children can play against kids their own size. In our league, we do not allow bigger kids to play against smaller kids unless agreed upon by competing teams.
Practice is one day to three days per week. Usually at Calabazas Park in Cupertino.
Nearly all games are played locally from 11AM–4PM on Saturdays, usually at Leland HS or Boynton HS.
Registration starts in September. Orientation is in late November. Practice runs throughout December. Matches start in January. And the NorCal Championships are held in the second week of March.
