8 One-Week Sessions, June 18–August 10
With Specialty Camps, children of all ages can try out a new interest or dig deeper into the activities they already love. Led by experts in their fields, each camp offers a small-group setting and individual attention, making them ideal for novices and more experienced campers alike. This year, we’re giving you even more opportunity to customize your camper’s experience. Choose a theme for the morning and the afternoon— you can double up on your favorite, or mix and match for more variety.
Choose from adventures in cooking, engineering, Spanish, fashion, and more as you design a summer that your camper will never forget!
Extended care is available from 8–9 AM and from 4–6 PM for an additional fee.
Week 1: June 18-22
9 AM–12 PM
Option 1: Viva El Espanol
Join us for a week of classic games, prizes, and food – Viva el Español style! We’ll have sack races, play bean bag toss and milk can baseball, try our luck at wheel of fortune and go on a scavenger hunt. We will make and play with oobleck, create paper bag puppets, and break a piñata. Our water balloon games are sure to make a splash!
Option 2: Roleplaying Adventure
Roleplaying Adventure offers kids the chance to enter an exciting magical world full of wizards, knights, and elves, all through classic paper-and-dice roleplaying games. You will get to build your own character and get a customized character sheet you can take home. Then you and your friends will go on an adventure together solving puzzles, fighting monsters and completing quests. It's all up to you and the other players what happens because you control your characters' choices. Roleplaying Adventure is also a fun way to develop reading and math skills and encourages teamwork, creative problem-solving, imaginative thinking, and good listening skills.

Option 2: Hanabi Judo
Hajime! (Begin!). This class establishes a strong base of judo technique, culture, and character. Fun tumbling, jumping and running activities warm us up before we practice our ukemi or falling techniques: Hajime students learn to fall safely, effortlessly and without discomfort. Judo allows a smaller person to control an opponent bigger and stronger than themselves. We learn to hold a person down with “kesa-gatame” (scarf hold) and we practice throws – where our opponent can be flipped upside down – on Sensei.

Calling all conservationists, wildlife enthusiasts, and animal lovers! All About Animals explores the wild world of animals through hands-on learning. Campers will visit local natural areas, the Oakland Zoo, Lindsey Wildlife Center, and even have a visit from the East Bay Vivarium!
Week 3: July 2-6 (No July 4)

Option 1: Intro to STEM using LEGO®
Give your imagination a boost with tens of thousands of LEGO® parts! Build engineer-designed projects such as: Cities, Garbage Trucks, Catamarans, and Dinosaurs. Design and build as never before, and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment.
Option 2: All that Glitters
Jump into the exciting world of jewelry making, bedazzling, and embellishments! Campers will bring home treasures you wouldn't believe, and create keepsakes you will keep for a lifetime!

Option 1: STEM FUNdamentals using LEGO®
Gear up your engineering skills with Play-Well TEKnologies and tens of thousands of LEGO® parts! Apply real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture through engineer-designed projects such as: Houseboats, Mini Golf Courses, Forklifts, and the London Tower Bridge. Design and build as never before, and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment.
Option 2: Skyhawks Mini Hawks Sports Camp
This multi-sport Mini Hawk program, combines baseball, basketball, soccer, and track & field; allowing young athletes to discover a passion for a variety of sports in one fun-filled setting. Participants explore balance, body movement, coordination, self-esteem, teamwork, sportsmanship, and sport-specific skill development through a series of fast-paced instructional circuits and games. Our progressive curriculum, modified equipment, and highly trained staff provide a safe environment where kids can develop at their own pace.
Week 4: July 9-13

Option 1: Fashion Forward: Screen Printing & T-Shirt Design
Are you an aspiring fashion designer, t-shirt graphic artist, or just want try your hand at making your own clothes, this camp is for you! Campers will be learning ways to dye, screen-print, and design their own shirts, bags, and more. Campers will go home with a variety of handmade, one of a kind treasures!
Option 2: Minecraft Animated! From Techsplosion
Get ready to use cameras and Minecraft characters to create amazing stop-motion animation movies! Whether your story is about fighting the wither, going on an adventure, or building the coolest pixel art in the overworld, you’ll have an opportunity to tell it at Minecraft, Animated! We’ll create real-life sets as we learn about stop-motion animation (think Wallace and Gromit!), then film, edit, and upload our creations to YouTube!

Option 1: Fashion Forward: Sneaker Design
From NBA players, to skateboarders, to fashion icons, sneakers have never been more popular. Campers will become familiar with a variety of tools to customize their own shoes, such as fabric markers, dyes, needle & thread, and more.
Option 2: Camp: Chess Grandmasters
Chess is played by millions across the world. Campers learn about the rules and some tricks and tips to grow their skills at this lifelong game.
Week 5: July 16-20

Option 1: The Local Cooks Room
Campers navigate the up and coming East Bay food scene, as well as critically acclaimed longstanding establishments. Tour local galleys, cookeries, farmers markets, and more.
Option 2: Adventures in Programming with CodeRev
Students adventure through code as they begin with game design, move on to basic java script art, and enjoy python games. No prior typing experience or coding experience required. Sculpt your coding muscles in this adventure and leave having learned to code!

Option 1: Virtual Reality & 3D Game Design
Campers build amazing Virtual Reality 3D video games using the Unity 3D platform, a widely used pro game making tool, as they learn to code their games using real code. Then their games turn to life, as campers dive inside Virtual Reality to explore their games first hand in a virtual environment that they created themselves! Let your imaginations soar as you build your game from the ground up and experience Virtual Reality!
Option 2: Upcycling Imagination Lab
Do you ever look at something and imagine what else it could be? In the Upcycling Imagination Lab, campers will take something some may see as junk and turn it into something beautiful. Planter boxes made from old toys, sculptures made from deactivated electronics, anything you can dream, you can build!
Week 6: July 23-27
9 AM–12 PM
Option 1: La Patisserie
Beat that batter batch! Campers experience the world of breads, dough, cookies, and cakes while learning the skills of kneading, dredging, piping, emulsifying, and proofing.
Option 2: Coding Foundations with Minecraft
Are you interested in coding, but don’t know where to start? This is the camp for you! This camp does NOT focus on computer science. Instead, we use code as a way to build confidence and technical problem solving skills, which will transfer to every new language you learn! We will use WorldEdit, Java, and Eclipse IDE at this camp.

Option 1: Camp: Build Your Own Boardgame
Boardgames have had a massive revival with a variety of creative new games for all ages. Long gone are the days of only playing Monopoly or Sorry at your family game nights! Campers will design their own boards, create their own rule books and game pieces, then test their games with each other! Each camper will bring home a priceless addition to their next family gathering!
Option 2: Let's Get Messy!
Let's face it, sometimes the best learning comes when you get your hands dirty. So that's just what we will do! From tie-dye, to slime, to splatter paint, and more, getting messy has never been more fun!
Week 7: July 30-August 3
9 AM–12 PM
Option 1: Global Menu Adventures
The US may lay claim to clam chowder, but what about the rest of the globe? Campers explore exotic recipes, from the fire and chile heat of Mexico to the sour and salty sweet chew of Thai cuisine. Sink your teeth into the precision of sushi from Japan, then meander over to the Grecian way of life, featuring the gift of the gods, olive oil.
Option 2: App Creators
In this amazing class, students unleash their inner app development skills as they progress through the app development process in a fun, easy to code format. Students plan, design, and create their own apps that can then be run on the web, and can even be published on android phones and tablets. Bring in an android phone or tablet to download your apps to use on your own device.

Option 1: Rev Engineers
Students enter into the world of engineering and robotics with Arduinos as they wire, build, and code their custom bots called Creator Bots! This class is great for the hands-on tinkerers and engineers of tomorrow who love to figure out how things work and put robots and circuits together. We also focus on the code - as students code their Creator Bots* to conquer fun challenges and then learn to code their Arduinos to integrate motors, lights, sounds, sensors, claws and more! Younger students code in a drag and drop format so no typing is required. Older students use real Arduino code, used in Neuroscience and professional engineering.

Option 1: Stuffed!
Campers learn how to stuff, roll, and pinch with the best of them. Every culture has their own edition! Travel the world of dumplings, from the samosa to the pirozhki, dim sum to the wonton. Try your take on ravioli, kartoffelknoedel, gyoza, and rangoon!
Option 2: Virtual Reality & 3D Game Design

The Force Awakens in this advanced engineering course for young Jedi! Discover key engineering concepts such as gear trains, worm drives, pneumatics, and eccentric motion. Build LEGO X-Wings, AT-AT walkers, Pod Racers, Star Destroyers, Cloud Cities, Settlements, Fortresses, and other complex machines and structures from a galaxy far, far away.
