The path to the ultimate showdown starts here! BattleBots is known for combining the craftsmanship of engineering with the high-octane excitement of a robotics championship. In this beginning robotics course, you can grab your goggles and get ready to build a robot before battling in the arena. Following design standards set by tech experts at BattleBots, you'll learn how to brainstorm, workshop, and customize a robot to your exact specifications. You'll learn how to iterate and optimize its features until it's ready to rumble against your peers in a variety of robot challenges, culminating in a BattleBots-style robot tournament! Think you have what it takes to make it to the winner's circle? “Let the bot battle begin!"

Prerequisite: Ability to work in a team. Each student will be provided with an individual computer and will share robotics equipment.

In this course, you will:

  • Build a custom robot with VEX IQ hardware
  • Learn how the pros build BattleBots champions
  • Explore mechanical engineering principles
  • Compete in a BattleBots-style tournament
