In this open-ended project lab, bring your ideas and build 3D objects/prototypes using a diverse set of materials, hot glue gun, and simple hand tools. Create objects for your imaginary play, build imaginary worlds, make gifts, or simply explore the possibilities of hands-on creation. There will be a stretch of time to make independently (with guidance if needed), and participate in show-and-tell.
The goal of the class is to help young makers develop a visceral understanding for different materials, and become comfortable with ambiguity when translating creative ideas into real-world prototyping. Warning: Projects may not be pretty, but they will be a meaningful expression of each child's mind.
The instructor will also be supporting children as needed on social-emotional learning (SEL). Some areas perfectly aligned with this creativity lab include growth-mindset, dealing with perfectionism, and managing learning frustrations.
Parents - let the kids make a mess in our lab, not your house! Materials will be a kid-maker's heaven.
