This is a basic course for beginners. Students learn care of the violin, correct posture, beginning fingering and bowing technique, basic musicianship skills, history of the violin with an emphasis on female performers and innovators of the violin. By the end of the course, students will be able to sightread basic music notation, will be able to perform solo and in ensemble, and will have a developing knowledge of its history and major innovators.
