In this accelerated introduction to Spanish (no prior experience
necessary), students will learn how to carry on a brief, basic
conversation in Spanish, including asking for and giving important
information. They will do this by learning rules of pronunciation
and sentence structure, and beginning vocabulary (numbers, dates,
information regarding self and family, etc.). Methods will include
memorization, repetition, writing exercises, games and songs that
require (and thus reinforce) the language skills they have gained.
They will show their mastery of these skills by keeping a daily log
of vocabulary and sentences they’ve learned, and their meanings in
English. They will keep this at the end of the workshop to show
parents what they have learned. The course will finish with an
introduction to Spanish-speaking cultures and geography.
