Complete Steps 1 & 2 of the Tree Badge
Step 1: Go on an exploratory hike in the high-quality woods of Camp Prairie Schooner with the Heartland Tree Alliance Educator. Learn how to identify trees, discuss forest ecology and native edibles that grow on trees, and place tree identification signs in the forest so future visitors may learn as well.
Step 2: Learn about the levels and layers of trees and ecosystem connections that involve trees- such as how animals use trees for food, shelter, camouflage, or medicine. In the outdoor classroom, sketch and label a tree to show what you've learned.
Troop leaders will be provided with resources and recommendations on how to complete the remaining steps of the Tree Badge.
Additional Info: Meet at Outdoor Classroom. In accordance with the State of Kansas and Jackson County, MO regulations, all persons on camp will be required to have a mask. Mask-wearing will be required at all times while indoors (inside restrooms, lodge, etc.) and any time that 6 ft of social distancing cannot be maintained outdoors. See local and state guidance for any exceptions. Thank you in advance for helping us to adhere to local and state policies.
