LGS Recreation’s Summer Enrichment School is back with new class offerings and the ones participants already love! Our program, designed and facilitated by experienced teachers from local school districts, provides young people the opportunity to keep learning during summer months through a wide-range of challenging, engaging, and fun classes!
Before School Care: Programs K-8TH: The Summer Enrichment School bell rings at 8:20 a.m. or 8:35 a.m. depending on the location. Starting at 7:00 a.m. each location offers Before School Care. As students arrive they will have the opportunity to socialize with friends and participate in low impact activities supervised by our staff.
After School Day Camp: Once the school bell rings for dismissal the fun doesn’t have to stop! We offer After School Day Camp until 6:00 p.m. to all students participating in Summer Enrichment School. Camp features: arts & crafts, healthy cooking projects, sports & games, swimming (when available), special guest visitors, and a weekly field trip! Staff to camper ratio: 1 to 12.
Camp T-Shirt: This year’s camp t-shirt must be worn by students on all off-site field trips.
Lunch & Snacks: A bag lunch and water bottle should be brought each day for this program unless the weekly calendar states otherwise. Daily snack provided.

Amazing Science
Are you a science fan? Do you like to do experiments? Join the adventure and learn about scientific investigation, magnetism, and chemical reactions in this lively and stimulating class. This science class includes daily, hands-on, experiments along with predicting and observing outcomes of basic science concepts. Learn about chemical reactions in the most explosive way! If you like biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, and research then this is the class for you
Math Fun!
Have fun and build your mathematical confidence! This is a hands-on, center orientated, math game class that will get your mind racing! Use basic math skills and problem solving to improve mathematical reasoning. Use your knowledge to find the answers to math puzzles, brainteasers, and to solve problems. Have fun working individually and in small groups on math challenges and math games to give your brain a work out!
Make it Sell it – Mini Economy
Are you ready to become an entrepreneur? Want to create and run your own business? By learning to make change, selling and promoting your product, and learning how to manage a budget you can become a real small business owner! Play money games and have fun improving your money skills. Students in this class will create and run their own businesses, “selling” to other students on site.
Tech Adventures and More!
Using technology, expand your creativity and fine-tune your problem solving skills, all while collaborating with classmates to create a variety of digital presentations. Explore with Nearpod, Peardeck, Kahoot!, and more. In this class students will use technology to create content not just be passive users. Come have fun and create digital memories that you can share with friends and family.
Cooking For Kids
This class equips students with basic skills to become more independent and successful in the kitchen. Have fun and learn some new healthy recipes to share with your family and friends. Even the pickiest of eaters will usually try food they prepare themselves. Work on your math and reading skills while measuring and following a recipe. At the end of the session each student will take home a recipe booklet containing all of the recipes they’ve made in class. (Warning! This class may not be ideal for children with food allergies or dietary restrictions.)
Writer’s Workshop
Young authors wanted! Everyone has important stories to tell. In this class, students will have fun developing their best ideas while still addressing writing standards. Let’s inspire one another to create exciting new tales! Students who love to write and students who are afraid to pick up a pencil will love this popular class. All students, new and returning, are welcome.
Speak Up!
It’s time to let your personality shine! This public speaking class offers opportunities for students to develop confidence in their ability to speak in front of others in a supportive and collaborative environment. Key components of effective public speaking will be introduced and refined by students as they stand front and center on their own and in small group settings. Build confidence and prepare for future class presentations while having an exciting fun-filled experience! Yes, please! Sign me up!
Art For Everyone
Are you ready to get creative? Students will be encouraged to stretch their imagination creating art every day. Students will learn that art is found in many forms. They will use a variety of materials such as paint, clay, watercolors, oil pastels, chalk and tempera to create extraordinary art. Easy to learn and fun to do, kids will be excited to see just how creative their little hands can be!
