William Penn Charter School

Ku saabsan

Penn Charter is a pre-K to 12 coed Friends school. William Penn and the Religious Society of Friends established the school in 1689. Originally located in Old City, the school moved to Philadelphia's East Falls neighborhood in the 1920s and now enjoys all the benefits of a green, 47-acre campus.

We are close to nearly everything, but not in the middle of it. We have lawns and playing fields; separate buildings for Lower, Middle and Upper Schools; and state-of-the-art facilities for academics, arts and athletics.

The Penn Charter Language and Culture curriculum is built on the idea that communication is at the base of language learning. Students across languages and levels study the language in context and make cultural connections and comparisons.

Any student who applies to Penn Charter may apply for financial assistance, reflecting our founding Quaker principles of equality and diversity. Penn Charter imposes no income ceiling or minimum for families applying for financial aid.

Grants to new students are usually awarded to students who enter Penn Charter in pre-k, kindergarten, and grades fifth through ninth, and then, as funds remain, to new students entering in all other grades. Nearly all financial aid is distributed in the first round.
