This is a class for the brain and fingers. We’re going to fire up some neurons learning about artists who have and do push the boundaries of using materials, questioning what makes great art, and how to work with anything at all to communicate a message. This is a class in which you get to join the ranks of the outlandish Fluxus movement by bringing your imagination and humor alive; borrow techniques from Picasso, Chuck Close, Banksy, Eno and others; to build a portfolio of truly original artwork that communicates your message.
Each week we will examine different artists or movements, with a visual introduction and group discussion. A personal project will be developed by students inspired by the artists covered, using objects and techniques familiar and new and decided by students with tutored guidance. We will be looking at some incredibly inspiring artists from movements including Outsiders, Found Artists, Famous Names and artists who work with jello, smoothies and gum!
You will need a basic Zoom account.
Your instructor Hazel Keetan, hazelkeelan@gmail.com, will email the link before the first class.
