The word “calculus” in “pre-calculus” is intimidating enough, but your school has to stick the word “honors” after it? Welcome to your first dip into big leagues of math. Pre-calculus teaches you about the mathematical functions upon which advanced mathematics is built. Our experienced instructor increases students’ scores on average by 10%. Ten percent! That’s like going from 75 to 85, or 85 to 95. How much would you like a bump-up of a whole letter grade? You will be glad you took this class either before or along with your school’s pre-calculus class. Soon, you’ll be cheering, “Sine, cosine, cosine, sine! Three-point-one-four, one-five-nine!”
- As one of our most customized class offerings, the course content is based on the California State Standards for Mathematics and the San Francisco Bay Area’s local high school curriculum. It is designed to teach students topics from Pre-Calculus to Analysis Honor.
- Over the 15 sessions (2 hours/session), there will be two in-class quizzes and three take-home exams. Students will learn about: systems of equations, matrices and determinants, parametric equations, polar coordinates and equations, three dimensional equations and vectors.
- By the end of the course, students will be able to solve and graph these functions and apply them to real-world situations.
