With the use of simple shapes and the warm-up exercises, students use the information and learn to build a figure as well as construct a head.
Stick Figures, Manikins, and Animals all use the same method of overlapping shapes, line quality, silhouette, and tone.
Acting with the Pencil: Sketching techniques using contour line. The artist learns to push the pose of the figure while learning about the grid. (where things line up, horizontally and vertically).
Telling a story:
Using foreground, middle ground, and background, the artist learns about proportions and the variety of sizes that describe depth.
When illustrating a story, the student uses their imagination and is taught how to make gradations to set the mood.
Color Wheel: Exploration of combinations and color harmony.
Values/Tones: Light, medium, and dark tones are simplified into 4 values called a grayscale.
Painting Projects: Ceramics, Canvas, mixed media, canvas bags, pouches, banners, wood, and clay.
Mixed Media Techniques: Graphite, Charcoal, Markers, Pen and Ink, Pastels, Colored Pencils, Acrylics, and Watercolors.
