Students will learn to build different types of AI - to detect and predict categories (for example whether a person is Happy/Sad or Child/Adult), to detect and predict values (such as teaching an AI to do Math), and how to classify images (such as difference between cats/dogs, emoticons, medical images). They will build AI projects to do each of these and learn the concepts behind them.
The core AI concepts they will learn are:
• Learn to identify different classes of algorithms appropriate for different types of problems and data.
• Binary/Multi-Class Classification and Regression
• Text/Vector Data Types
• Training an AI with numbers, categories, and free form text (like sentences)
• Train an AI system from raw data and use it to build cool applications.
• How to improve an AI with better data
• Learn the basic parameters that impact AI model performance:
• Impact of size of data. When do you need more data?
• Impact of prediction class imbalance. What happens when you dont have enough examples?
• Impact of data corruption. What happens if there are mistakes in my data?
• How AI compares to rule engines (can I beat an AI by writing rules?), and when to use and not to use AI
• Hyper-parameter tuning of AI algorithms and its impact on performance. Difference between AI and Robotics. How to combine them?
• How AI can be used to process images. How to build cool image applications using AI
• What is Deep Learning? How does it work? How can it be used for AI to understand images?
• How to train an AI to compete and win in games.
• How to use AI for technology, science or robotics projects.
Prerequisites
• A laptop with chrome browser
• Wifi connectivity
• Coding knowledge optional. All projects can be done with no code. If the student would like to code, we provide examples in Python, Java and Javascript.
• No previous math or algebra knowledge needed.
What Students Take Away
• A good understanding of AI - a fascinating and fundamental technology that is changing our world.
• Several AI projects that they can showcase, covering numbers, text and images.
• A web based AI application that they build during the class. They can use this application (which is online), to showcase their work to family members, peers, etc.
• A lifetime access to an online cloud account where they can continue to build new projects and learn more AI.
• Opportunities to compete and win in AI competitions.
• Certificate of Completion from AIClub
How does the online class work?
The online classes enable students to learn from anywhere. Students just dial into the video-conference call and work live with the instructors. All they need is a computer and WiFi access.
• All sessions are recorded and available to the students. If they miss a class, it is easy to view the video and catch up.
• All the exercises and projects are online. The students can use any computer with a web browser. Teachers can monitor the students activity remotely and collaborate with them online.
• All students will have access to an online chat room where they can discuss class topics, questions and information with each other and with the instructors.
• Students will have email access to the instructors for 1:1 questions.
• Students will have homework and projects where they can showcase their skills. Students also have opportunities to compete with their fellow classmates on projects - driving class engagement across the online medium.
