For over 30 years San Francisco Shakespeare Festival has been offering Shakespeare camps for children of all experience levels. For summer of 2023 Camp sessions for ages 7-10 (Shakespeare Groundlings) and ages 11-13 (Shakespeare Players) will return to Berkeley’s John Hinkel Park, 41 Somerset Place. The Berkeley session meets July 24- Aug 4, weekdays, 9:00 am-3:00 pm, with pre-care 8:30-9:00 am and aftercare 3:00-5:30 pm included!
Camps are led by trained teaching artists who are working actors, stage managers, directors, and designers. In each session campers engage with each other in activities ranging from theatre games and basic acting skills to more specialized training and deeper exploration of the themes and language of Shakespeare, culminating in a live performance attended by family and friends on the final day of camp. Scripts, costumes, and supplies for the show are all included. Need-based scholarship assistance is also available. More info at https://sfshakes.org/education/camps/
